This is the fifth session in the AAVC 12-lecture series. In this session, Dr. Marcy will present on Increasing Motivation, Decreasing Perceived Barriers. (Lecture/Interactive Q&A).

Dr. Stephanie Marcy is currently an Associate Professor of Clinical Pediatrics, as well as Medical Director of Integrated Behavioral and Mental Health Services in Primary Care within the Alta Med General Pediatrics clinic at CHLA. Dr. Marcy is also an active supervisor for pre- and post-doctoral psychology trainees and is a member of the Developmental-Behavioral Pediatrics (DBP) Team, providing instruction to medical residents and DBP fellows in the areas of assessment, child development and doctor-patient communication skills. She lectures to many different groups in the academic and medical setting on a variety of topics, including ACEs, Eating Disorders, and Sibling Caregivers of Children with Chronic Illness.

In this session, attendees will learn: 

  • How to address potential barriers to clinical implementation of screening tools.

  • How to develop a clear plan for intervention and risk mitigation as it relates to promoting resilience and trauma-informed therapies.

  • How different motivational interviewing strategies can be applied in the context of ACE Screening and education about resilience and self-care.
