This is the third session in the AAVC 12-lecture series. In this session, Dr. Kalra and Dr. Osei will present on Physician Burnout and Self-Care Strategies. (Lecture/Interactive Q&A).

Dr. Ruby Kalra is a proud parent of three boys, a perennial school volunteer, an elected SPUSD Board of Education member, a certified yoga instructor, and a pediatric sub-specialist residing in Southern California.  Her professional interest and expertise is in Wellness, Stress Reduction, and Mind Body Therapies.

Dr. Adwoa Osei is currently an Assistant Professor in UC Riverside School of Medicine serving as Pediatric Curriculum Director and a practicing pediatrician with UCR Health. Throughout her career, Dr. Osei has had a special interest in Behavioral and Developmental Pediatrics and is particularly interested in the relationship between Adverse Childhood Experiences and Neurodiverse children.


In this session, attendees will learn: 

  • To identify the features of physician burnout and compassion fatigue as it relates to ACE screening.

  • About the benefits of self-care tools for use in personal well-being.

  • How yoga, mindfulness, and other practices can be used as self-care tools.
